CROATIA IS CREATING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE START OF THE SEASON

We are among the first countries in the world to start with the organized vaccination of tourism workers

Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac announced that the organized vaccination of 70,000 tourist workers will begin soon. The vaccination of permanently employed and seasonal workers in tourism should be completed by the beginning of the season. In addition, Croatia wants to further establish the perception of a safe destination for tourism, given that this is a necessary prerequisite for a successful tourist season.

Croatia managed to achieve the best result in the European Union in the arrival of foreign guests last year precisely due to the fact that we provided guests with a safe environment which resulted in the reality that we did not have a single case of spreading the infection in commercial accommodation. With all the measures that ensured this last year, the vaccination of tourism workers this year will further increase the safety of guests, but also ensure a favorable epidemiological situation in tourist centers.

“Along with the Safe stay in Croatia project, this is an additional guarantee to tourists that Croatia meets all the prerequisites for a safe holiday for every guest who chooses our country as their tourist destination,” said Minister Brnjac.

A month ago, the Croatian Tourism Association (HUT) conducted a survey among tourism workers, which showed that they want to be vaccinated with a high percentage, about 70 percent. This is a vaccination rate that should guarantee a high level of security for tourism employees, their families and colleagues at work and guests.

‘The beginning of organized vaccination of tourist workers in this phase of preparation for the tourist season is an excellent measure, and we will do everything possible to encourage as many employees and seasonal workers as possible to be vaccinated. It is clear to everyone in the sector that the success of the tourist season is related to the epidemiological situation and the perception of Croatia as a safe destination, and timely and organized vaccination of tourism workers is one of the most important factors that will enable this. This is also the strongest promotional message that Croatia can send to emitting markets at the moment, “said Veljko Ostojic,’ director of HUT.

Tourists will have a wide network of testing points

According to the announcements, a wide network of points for antigen testing will be available to all interested guests in Croatia this season.

“The price of antigen tests for tourists will be symbolic and will be decided in agreement with the CNIPH,” said Minister Nikolina Brnjac, explaining that the procurement of antigen tests goes through inventories, and the Ministry has so far provided 20 million kuna for this need.

Let us add to this that on April 7th, 2021, new prices of microbiological tests, which are provided at the request of legal and natural persons, came into force at the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

There are currently 28 test centers in the Republic of Croatia that perform RT-PCR analysis of collected samples on COVID-19. All processed samples are entered in the national platform at the Croatian Health Insurance Institute, which is available to all county public health institutes.
